BOLTON SCREEN ACADEMY
Are you a young person interested in film and screen production? Bolton Screen Academy, delivered by Creatives Now, National Saturday Club, and Bolton Council, offers an exciting 25-week project that provides hands-on experience in all aspects of filmmaking. From screenwriting and cinematography to editing and visual effects, this Saturday Club is designed to spark creativity and develop your skills.
Taking place every Saturday from 12 - 3 pm at Creatives Now, you’ll work alongside industry professionals, create short films, and collaborate with like-minded peers. With only 15 spaces available, this project offers a focused and supportive learning environment.
Throughout the course, you’ll participate in masterclasses with film and TV experts, engage in site-specific sessions, and showcase your work at the National Saturday Club's Somerset House exhibition in London in July 2025. You’ll have contributed to five short films by the end, gaining practical filmmaking experience and building valuable industry connections.

Bolton Film Festival 2024: Cultural Commentary
Young filmmakers creatively reimagine their hometown as a vibrant space filled with play and curiosity, transforming everyday environments into opportunities for exploration. Bolton Film Festival 2023: Emergent Tools for Filmmaking
Under the mentorship of Spanish director and VFX specialist, Javier de Prado, participants explored the art of filmmaking. Young filmmakers explored new generative AI software, gaining insights into the innovative intersection of technology and creativity. They blended original recorded footage with AI-generated files, pushing the boundaries of film creation.
